- Confirm your income. Project-based Section 8 in Las Vegas uses the same HUD income limits as the rest of Nevada. - Call the management contact on each property page. Ask: "Is your waiting list open? If it's closed, when do you expect it to reopen, and where do I check for the announcement?" Get the answer in writing if you can — an email reply is a useful paper trail.
- Apply to several buildings. A typical wait in Las Vegas-sized markets is 12–36 months; some big Nevada metros run several years. Applying to 5–10 buildings in parallel materially shortens your wait. Don't be choosy on the first round — once you're housed, you can transfer.
